Özgür Uyanık is an award-winning filmmaker (“Resurrecting The Street Walker”, released in the UK by Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment in 2010) and novelist (“Gesamtkunstwerk”, Lebowski Publishing, 2016).
Turkish-born Özgür Uyanık started in the UK film industry as an intern at Nik Powell’s Scala Productions and went on to become their development executive, shepherding the company’s slate from development to delivery. He then produced, wrote and directed his debut micro-budget feature “Resurrecting The Street Walker”, which premiered at the 17th Raindance Film Festival where it was Nominated Best UK Feature and it was released by Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment in the UK 2010. It was an Official Selection at the İstanbul International Film Festival, Abertoir Horror Film Festival, Dublin Horrorthon, London Turkish Film Festival and Razor Reel Fantastic Film Festival. His previous film “Oblivious” won the Canal+ Best European Short in Brussels and was short-listed for a BAFTA award. He has also directed award-winning ad campaigns as well as TV commercials in the UK and Turkey.
Özgür’s next project “Holy Men”, about Islamic exorcisms, was selected for the Binger Writers Lab with an International Scholarship from Creative Skillset, and is currently in development with The Film Garage, Turin. He was selected for the British Film Institute’s Emerging Filmmakers 2015 program during the London Film Festival, supported by Film Cymru Wales as part of NET.WORK@LFF.
