Özgür Uyanık is an award-winning filmmaker (“Resurrecting The Street Walker”, released in the UK by Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment in 2010) and novelist (“Gesamtkunstwerk”, Lebowski Publishing, available 2016).
Starting his career as an intern at Nik Powell’s Scala Productions he went on to become their development executive. His debut feature film as writer-director “Resurrecting The Street Walker” premiered at the 17th Raindance Film Festival in London and was nominated Best UK Feature. The film was an Official Selection at the İstanbul International Film Festival, Abertoir Horror Film Festival in Wales, Dublin Horrorthon, London Turkish Film Festival and Razor Reel Fantastic Film Festival in Flanders. His previous film “Oblivious” won the Canal+ Best European Short in Brussels and was picked up by Universal’s Sci-Fi Channel. He has also directed award-winning ad campaigns as well as TV commercials in the UK and Turkey for Age Concern UK and Novartis, amongst others.
His second feature film project “Holy Men” was selected for the 2014-2015 Binger Filmlab Writers Lab in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and is currently in development with The Film Garage, a Creative Europe MEDIA genre script workshop in Turin, Italy. Özgür has several other feature film projects in development.
